Carolina Landriscini
BIOGRAPHY
Born in Buenos Aires, she studied with professors Jacques Doué and Xavier Gagnepain in France to later continue under the guidance of Janos Starker at Indiana University (USA). In Spain she earned a Degree in Cello and Chamber Music, and she was awarded the Nicanor Zabaleta Scholarship from the Diputación de Guipúzcoa. In 2015 she obtained her PhD Degree at the University of A Coruña with the thesis “Contributions of David Popper in cello teaching“.
Carolina Landriscini is currently cello professor at the Superior Conservatory of Music of A Coruña. Highly appreciated as a teacher and pedagogue, she has been invited to teach Master Classes throughout Europe, in Portugal, Italy, Czech Republic and Poland. Recently she was invited to teach at the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She has also given Master Classes in summer courses such as Presjovem International Festival in Córdoba and since 2016 she is part of the faculty at the Hagamos Música en Soria summer music course, held every year in August. In July 2022 she will be as well part of the faculty at the Leonel Morales & Friends Summer Music Festival in Granada.
She regularly plays cello and piano recitals in Spain, having performed at the Quincena Musical de San Sebastián, the Segovia Music Festival, or the Martes Musicales de Vitoria concert series. She has also played at great halls such as the Bilbao Philharmonic Society, the Juan March Foundation or the Conde Duque Center in Madrid. She has performed all the cello and piano sonatas by Beethoven in León. Internationally, she went on a concert tour to Argentina as part of a cello duo, playing as well concerts in France and Greece with a contemporary music program by Spanish composers. The press has written about her: “the performance was full of character, demonstrating a superb chamber music métier and a genius only found in very mature artists” (El Diario Vasco, August 1996).
She has attended important music festivals like the ones in Prades or Les Arcs in France, Manchester cello Festival at the United Kingdom, Kronberg cello Festival in Germany, Lenk Music Festival in Switzerland or the Summer Sessions of the Academia Chigiana in Siena in Italy. In the early music field, she has participated in the Vía Stellae 2008, 2009 and 2010 Festivals, and the Festival Musiquem Lleida.
She is one of the founders and the president of Soncello, the Galician cello Society, a cultural organization whose mission is promoting the cello. Although based in A Coruña city, Soncello has held events all around Galician region. As a member of Soncello Ensemble cello group, she has recorded two CDs, “Soncello Ensemble” in 2014 and “Cancións Galegas” in 2020.
In 2020 her first cello and piano CD was released. “The cello in times of Gaos” includes the first recording of the two works by this Galician composer along with other pieces from the first two decades of the 20th century. The specialized press has written about this CD: “the performance is full of energy and vitality. The perfect understanding between both players produces delightful moments of great beauty” (Scherzo Magazine, January 2022).
